Pawpaw Mahoney the Marine

Porter's great grandfather joined the Marines in 1944 at the age 17. He proudly severed our country and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima.  It was his unit that raised the flag on Mount Suribachi. On May 11, he and 44 other Vets were taken to Washington, D.C. to visit the National WWII Memorial. This trip meant so much to him! We were at the airport for the arrival of his flight back to DFW airport. It was really amazing to see the support and recognition these men and women received. You could see the joy and happiness on their faces. I am so grateful that Porter was able to be apart of this and have a man so wonderful in his life.
